IT, Computing and iMedia
The department has three dedicated computer suites (rooms 102, 103 and 104). All of these are equipped with up to date computers, sound, ceiling mounted projectors and whiteboards. The department prides itself with a high standard of teaching and results.
Students start their introduction to IT, Computer Science and Creative iMedia in year 9 and are timetabled for two lessons in a two week cycle. This provides them with an insight into the GCSE options that are available to them the following June.
Year 10 and 11 can follow Computer Science or Creative iMedia as an option subject.
All Year 10 and 11 students follow a Computing and Careers syllabus (once per cycle).
Students have the opportunity to take Computer Science A-level or Digital Media OCR Technical in the sixth form.
For all year groups work is submitted and marked electronically at regular periods. Students are encouraged to complete any outstanding work at home via the schools remote apps facility. All software used is free to download or use online.
Extra curriculum activities include; coding workshops, revision sessions, various challenges and educational visits.
