school closed to years 9, 10 and 12

Coronavirus Update: Wednesday 18th March 2020

Following my letter sent yesterday regarding the measures we are taking to minimise the risks posed by the Coronavirus to pupils and staff, I am writing to update you on our plans.

Having conducted risk assessments for staff with pre-existing health conditions as well as those who are living with or caring for people at risk, we are expecting at least 45 staff to be absent from tomorrow (Thursday 19th March) until advised otherwise.

Clearly, the school cannot run as normal with this level of staff absence. Consequently, the school will remain open as normal for pupils in Years 11 and 13 but be closed to all pupils in Years 9, 10 and 12 with effect from tomorrow (Thursday 19th March).

Depending on “imminent” Government advice, the school will either continue to run with Year 11 and 13 for as long as staffing levels allow or will close completely if directed to do so.

As mentioned in my previous letter, all subject areas have made home learning available via Google Classrooms and there are additional learning materials available via our school website.

I appreciate the disruption and inconvenience this decision may cause but clearly the safety and wellbeing of our pupils and staff is the most important thing.

Thank you for your continued support during these challenging and unprecedented times.

Kind regards
